8. Return the OBU

Are you coming back to Belgium within the next 3 weeks?

  • Yes: Keep your OBU
  • No: Return your OBU

Read more hereunder.

Planning to come back to Belgium within the next 3 weeks? You don’t need to return your OBU when leaving Belgium.

We advise you to keep your OBU and to upgrade your Service Point Account to a Standard Account: it will save you time next time you drive in Belgium since you will no longer need to stop at a Service point anymore to get an OBU!

Not coming back to Belgium within the next 3 weeks? Return your OBU. Here is how!

You can return your OBU either via the Road User Portal, or via a Service Point

1) Road User Portal:

Log in to the RUP and follow the OBU return process. You can choose to send back the OBU per post (read our Checklist for good packaging hereunder) or to return it using our OBU pick-up service. Our return address is indicated on the Road User Portal. We advise you to read our manuals "Return an OBU using the Road User Portal" (via the Road User Portal) and “How can I return my OBU properly? for more information.

WHAT SHOULD YOUR OBU LOOK LIKE WHEN YOU RETURN IT VIA THE ROAD USER PORTAL?
- The OBU is undamaged, in a state allowing refurbishment for reuse without repair,
- w
ith the original power cable wrapped around it,
- preferably with the battery (inside the OBU),
- preferably with the suction cups (attached to the OBU);
- The red general seal (in the right bottom corner on the back of the OU) is not broken or missing.
Read our leaflet for more information!

PACK YOUR OBU (1 OBU PER PACKAGE!) following our Checklist for Good Packaging (see hereunder) and ONLY USE THE ADDRESS LABEL THAT YOU HAVE OBTAINED ON THE ROAD USER PORTAL!
